Freezing Totem with text subtitles?

Then ask your distribution to backport the patches.

This has been fixed in Fedora about a month ago.

  1. And it's been fixed in Ubuntu as well.

Why don't people update their systems? Tut tut.

  3. To clarify the bug. It only happens when the name of the subtitle and the video file are same and you have "load subtitle automatically" enabled.

  4. I rather think why people expect that people always update? Living on the edge is dangerous, too. And then people will tell you you should not always update. I am very much for updating new minor releases but think that backporting bug fixes (which are not part of a minor release) is non sense and very dangerous. It eats up a lot of time and in the end we end up with dozens of version of one applications in different releases. That is support hell. It forces support to focus on only one distribution and therefore weakens GNOME/Linux as a whole. Just my oppinion. -- Thilo

  5. Tapir: then bug your distribution.

Vinci: Yes it's a pain, but a good distribution maintainer will look over the upstream bugs as well. “Packaging” isn't hard, maintaining and fixing bugs in what you package is.

Incidentally, I've asked for new upstream versions for the GStreamer packages in question, but some changes that got in as well as the existing schedule didn't allow for that. So I'm getting the fixes to the users instead of letting a bug simmer for weeks and alienate users.

The bug is not fixed in Ubuntu yet. A proposed package containing the fix has been created. On successful testing of the package by users who reported the problem, the package will migrate to updates repository.

  7. FWIW: old post, but this (or similar) affects me on Fedora 14 and Fedora 17.

Anytime you click on any of the subtitle menu items video freezes.

I know this isn't a bug tracker, sorry.

    Try it out :)
