I prefer "gihugic."
That's a good name for some GNOME software.
Girnomous is a perfectly cromulent word.

I know how you feel; just last week I was instructed to 'detrain' on an Amtrak and 'deplane' on an aircraft; I swear I was not training or planing at either occasion.
